If we only could always understand the “big” picture. But we are stuck in the hear and now. I have found that in order to live with a sense of peace, I have to live in the realm of trust. I need to believe:
THAT ALL THINGS ARE WORKING TOGETHER FOR MY GOOD
THAT GOD IS ALWAYS FAITHFUL
THAT GOD LOVES ME WITH A PERFECT LOVE AND HE HAS PLAN FOR LIFE THAT WILL PROSPER ME AND NOT HARM ME.
One of my friends recently shared with me that she felt like every security she knew had been stripped away from her but when her life was “laid bare” is when she experienced a love she had not known. It was as if God needed to strip down all the layers of false security she had created to protect herself before He could truly bless her.
I had this mental picture of God trying to pour His love on her but it kept rolling off the layers of fear, insecurity, pride, self sufficiency and control which she had clothed herself. I could relate to that illustration personally. Maybe the difficult times in our lives are God’s way of stripping us down so we can experience Him in a way we’ve never known. Perhaps we need to welcome change rather than fear it.
This gives me an outside of ordinary hope. I want everything God has for me and my prayer is that my self-sufficiency never gets in His way.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness”. Lamentations 3:22-23
